Sleep & Insomnia Hypnotherapy

Tired enough to sleep… but your brain has other ideas?

Clinical Hypnotherapy in Fuengirola, Lake Viñuela and online

You know that feeling.

You’re exhausted. Your body wants to sleep.

But the moment your head hits the pillow, your mind decides it’s the perfect time to start thinking about everything.

Tomorrow. Yesterday. That conversation. The things you haven’t done. The things you might have to do.

And suddenly you’re wide awake.

Or perhaps you fall asleep easily, only to wake in the middle of the night with a busy mind and find yourself watching the clock.

When sleep becomes difficult, it can affect everything.

When sleep stops feeling natural

Perhaps you’re struggling to:

  • fall asleep
  • stay asleep
  • get back to sleep after waking
  • switch off your thoughts at bedtime
  • stop worrying about whether you’ll sleep
  • wake feeling rested

And after enough nights like this, you can start to worry about sleep itself.

“Will I sleep tonight?” “How am I going to function tomorrow?” “What if I wake up again?”

Bedtime can begin to feel like something you have to achieve, rather than something that happens naturally.

It can become a cycle

The less well you sleep, the more tired you feel. And the more tired you feel, the harder everything can seem.

If you go to bed already worrying about whether you’ll sleep, your mind may become even more alert.

Sleep worry → tension → alertness → difficulty sleeping → more sleep worry.

Part of our work can be about stepping out of that cycle and developing a calmer relationship with sleep.

How can Clinical Hypnotherapy help?

Clinical Hypnotherapy can be used to support a calmer relationship with bedtime and sleep.

Rather than trying to force yourself to sleep, we look at the thoughts, habits and responses that may be keeping your mind alert.

Depending on your individual situation, our sessions may help you to:

  • quiet a busy mind
  • reduce bedtime tension
  • develop deeper relaxation
  • change unhelpful thoughts and associations around sleep
  • feel more comfortable if you wake during the night
  • reduce anxiety around not sleeping
  • establish healthier bedtime habits

The aim isn’t to make you try harder to sleep. Quite often, it’s about learning to let go of that effort.

You don’t have to “try to sleep”

Sleep is something your body already has the ability to do. Sometimes a busy or alert mind gets in the way.

When that happens, our work can help you move away from the struggle and towards a calmer relationship with sleep.

Less pressure. Less clock-watching. Less worrying about tomorrow.

And more trust in your own ability to rest.

Your sleep is yours

There isn’t one reason why people struggle with sleep.

Stress may be involved. Anxiety. Life changes. Hormonal changes. Shift patterns. Travel. Grief. A busy mind. A long-established habit of staying awake late. Or sometimes you simply aren’t sure when it started.

That’s why I don’t use a one-size-fits-all approach. We look at what is happening for you.

Sleep and midlife

Sleep can change as we move through different stages of life. Hormonal changes, stress, changing routines and life circumstances can all affect sleep.

For some women, sleep becomes particularly difficult around perimenopause and menopause. If that’s part of your experience, we can include it in our work together rather than treating your sleep in isolation.

The same applies to anyone whose sleep has changed because life has changed. We work with the whole picture.

When you’re tired, everything feels harder

Poor sleep can leave you feeling as though you’re running on empty.

You may have less patience, less energy, less concentration and less resilience. Sometimes you simply stop feeling like yourself.

You don’t have to wait until you’re completely exhausted before asking for support.

What happens when we work together?

We start by talking. I want to understand your sleep pattern, what you’ve noticed, what you’ve tried already and what you’d like to change.

Your Clinical Hypnotherapy sessions are then tailored around you. I may use relaxation, guided imagery, therapeutic suggestions and hypnosis designed to support healthier sleep patterns and a calmer response to bedtime and waking during the night.

You remain aware and in control throughout. Where appropriate, we can also look at simple changes that may support your sleep outside the sessions.

Working with me

I work one-to-one, either in person at LUX Therapy Clinic or online via Zoom.

Your sessions are tailored to your individual circumstances rather than following a fixed sleep script.

Because the reason you’re not sleeping matters. And so does the person who is experiencing it.

Locations: Fuengirola · Lake Viñuela · Online via Zoom

Ready to talk about your sleep?

You don’t have to know exactly what’s keeping you awake before you get in touch.

Let’s talk about what’s happening and what you’d like to be different. We can then decide together whether Clinical Hypnotherapy is an appropriate approach for you.
